End Homelessness takes on systems planning to make sure people have homes.

Access to safe, affordable housing is a challenge for many people across the country.  It's complex and there is no quick fix.  Recently in Newfoundland and Labrador the challenge became more visible as some people experiencing homelessness came together to build Tent Cities in St. John's.

The depth and breadth of the challenges was not news to End Homelessness St. John's (EHSJ).  EHSJ exists to prevent and end homelessness in St. John's. Working collaboratively with community and public systems’ stakeholders, EHSJ leads the coordination and integration of system-wide planning.  The goal is to ensure St. John’s can become the next community in Canada to end homelessness.

End Homelessness St. John's received a grant through the Investment Readiness Fund to assess opportunities to advance Homeconnect.  HomeConnect is an online housing inventory that brings together landlords and tenants, supported by EHSJ and  housing and homeless-serving community partners. HomeConnect creates successful tenancies by identifying and reducing barriers to housing stability and ensuring supports are in place.

In this stream, Nicole A and Doug talk about the work of End Homelessness, and the HomeConnect program.
