Yellow Rose

About: Hand-dyed and printed textile work, home decor and accessories
Available At: Quidi Vidi Plantation Open Studio, order by website

Growing up, Anna Murphy was always interested in fine arts, but classes at the Anna Templeton Centre introduced her to craft and there she saw a way to turn her passion into a career. She completed the Textiles: Craft and Apparel Design program at the College of the North Atlantic, and launched Yellow Rose in 2013.

While Anna’s work specializes in hand-dyeing, her textiles are made with high-quality natural and synthetic dyes, and each piece is designed with vision. Yellow Rose sells screen-printed pillows with a definite Newfoundland flair, dyed scarves, and fabric cover journals. One of her bestsellers is the salt cod pillow.

Local community and environmental sustainability is important to Anna, using sustainably harvested dyes and sourcing her materials locally whenever possible. She is committed to helping grow the craft community in the province, and is involved with the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, and volunteers with the Anna Templeton Centre, among other organizations.

She has an open studio at the Quidi Vidi Plantation, where the community is invited to drop in and watch artisans work. While you can purchase Yellow Rose products through the website, the best way to get them is in her studio at the Plantation. That way you can drop in, see Anna at work, and have a chat!
