Title:          Publication Specialist – Guide to the Good (www.guidetothegood.ca)

Location:   St. John’s, Newfoundland                   

Term:         Six month contract                                                                   

Salary:       $33960 ($16.980)

Hours Week: 37.5 hours per week                           

Start Date:  October 2018

thegreenrock.ca – Live Sustainably NL is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of, and promoting sustainable living practices in through action projects and the social enterprise start-up Guide to the Good.  Entering the launch phase, the Guide to the Good is an online and outreach platform that makes it easy for people access green, local, and social choices for their lifestyle and purchasing decisions in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Publication Specialist is a writer with environmental, local and social interests, is curious and tech-savvy, and looks for solutions.  This writer loves talking with people, has a way with words, likes the backend of the internet, and is keen to know what makes a social media post generate impact.  The successful candidate knows, or can’t wait to learn more about community engagement, local economies, agriculture, collaboration and how it can all come together to nurture sustainability.   They have an interest in analytics, social media metrics, short tail, long tail, keywords, tags, exposures, reach, impressions – and is charged up about sharing information about green, local and social opportunities.  That person is also comfortable working at an office that has a cat.

 

Every day tasks include to:

  • Build relationships with, interview and write profiles
  • Prepare and post content (video, images, text) for posts, articles, facebook live, campaigns, and communications forums
  • Manage web and social media
  • Seek outreach opportunities
  • Collaborate to develop projects and proposals that inspire sustainability
  • Track, compile, and analyze web site and social media metrics.
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Combination of Academic and Experience in Journalism / English / Communications / Public Relations  
  • Experienced in Microsoft Suite, WordPress, and social media
  • Vision and understanding on environmental issues from local and global perspectives
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Confident, enjoys talking with and working with people with different viewpoints
  • Strong organization and project management skills, and proven ability to deliver
