Growing up, Anna Murphy was always interested in fine arts, but classes at the Anna Templeton Centre introduced her to craft and there she saw a way to turn her passion into a career. She studied at the Textiles: Craft & Apparel Design Program in St. John’s, NL where she majored in Weaving as well as Print & Dye. She fell in love with the mystery and complication of natural dyes almost instantly and Yellow Rose was born!

Yellow Rose is a vintage + natural dye shop where Anna hand dyes each unique creation using insects, roots, plants & wood. Scarves, jewelry, clothing & home decor are made in house and each as different as you. She has paired the creations with specially curated vintage clothing and housewares to compliment our work. There is always something special at the store.

While Anna’s work specializes in hand-dyeing, her textiles are made with high-quality natural and synthetic dyes, and each piece is designed with vision. Yellow Rose sells screen-printed pillows with a definite Newfoundland flair, dyed scarves, and fabric cover journals. One of her bestsellers is the salt cod pillow.

Local community and environmental sustainability is important to Anna, using sustainably harvested dyes and sourcing her materials locally whenever possible. She is committed to helping grow the craft community in the province, and is involved with the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, and volunteers with the Anna Templeton Centre, among other organizations.
